Full Summary:"The Banquet" is set in ancient China during the period of Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms. Against this background of internal turmoil and external threat lives Empress Wan. As beautiful as she is limber, she harbors forbidden desires for her stepson Prince Wu Luan. When the Emperor dies all of a sudden and his younger brother Li takes the throne, Wan marries Li to protect Wu Luan and seal her own position in the court.
